And the former Northern Ireland captain will be joined in his first managerial role at McDiarmid Park by his ex-club and international team-mate Tommy Wright, who last night quit as manager of Lisburn Distillery. Lomas was interviewed by the SPL club over the weekend and was yesterday locked in contract negotiations, which, it is understood, have now reached a successful conclusion. He will now be named as the successor to Derek McInnes, who left to take over as manager of Bristol City. Wright has agreed to join Lomas, who he played alongside for both Manchester City and Northern Ireland and he broke the news of his decision to leave the Whites to his players at last night's training session. Lomas' first game in charge of the Perth outfit will be next Monday night, when they are at home to Aberdeen. The appointment of Lomas will mean there are three Northern Ireland men in charge of clubs in Scotland's top flight. His former colleague in the Northern Ireland midfield, Neil Lennon, is in charge at Celtic and they will meet next month, on the Saturday before Christmas. Ten days later Lomas' side sill go up against Kilmarnock, with former Coleraine and Ballymena United boss Kenny Shiels in charge. Wright leaves the Whites after leading the club to their first silverware in 18 years last season, when they beat Portadown in the Co-operative Insurance Cup final. The New Grosvenor side are currently ninth in the Carling Premiership, with just three wins as they struggle to match last season's top six finish. John Cunningham and Glenn Ferguson are likely to be in charge for Saturday's home game with Donegal Celtic. * Print * Text Size + Normal + Large + Extra Large Comment Forum Explained Also in this section * Davis delighted with Jelavic's deadly instincts * Forrest absence was a big loss for Celtic: Lennon IFRAME: http://www.nijobfinder.co.uk/affiliates/jobs-widget/widget.php?utm_sour ce=BelfastTelegraph&utm_medium=widget Get Adobe Flash player Click here... Columnist Comments billy_on_the_box o Santa's back but it's Roy who is Keane to deliver And to think some people say there's no Santa Claus. My letter to Lapland, thankfully not mixed up this year with the one I sent to Lapdancingland, which is still being investigated, asked the big man with the white hair in the red suit if he could bring back the wee man with the orange hair in the red shirt. Columnist Comments steven_beacom o Title race is wide open again and AVB's job is safe It's game on in the Premier League title race. Manchester City aren't invincible in England after all. And Chelsea have become a force again.
