Upcoming event Language, gender, sexuality and education 29 Apr 2020 -- Education are being hotly debated in the UK and elsewhere, this event responds to an increased awareness of the crucial role that language plays in promoting or preventing gender- and sexuality-based inclusion in schools. The event brings together research which explores how language can be used in schools to both reinforce and challenge sexism, -- The event is intended to be interdisciplinary, bringing together practitioners and scholars working in linguistics, education, and gender and sexuality studies. In doing so, this will facilitate rigorous and timely engagement with the complexities of language, gender, sexuality and education. The event is co-organised by the British Education Research Association (BERA) and the British Association for Applied Linguistics and aims to promote dialogue between gender and sexuality research being conducted across the related disciplines of education and applied linguistics. The event aims to connect language, gender, sexuality and education research to those who face challenges around inclusion, enriching their professional practice.
