Equally, racial identity has been a fundamental consideration and research topic for our staff and students alike, particularly because Westminster University is one of the most diverse in the United Kingdom where the actuality of working in a community where people come from different backgrounds is not an abstract idea but a lived reality. The evolving political landscape has meant that issues of racialised inequalities have been thrust to the fore. Influenced by movements to broaden access and diversity and calls to decolonise the curriculum we have decided to specifically include race within the remit of the Centre. To discuss this development and to celebrate the re-launch of our Centre we invite you to a panel discussion. The panel speakers are: Manvir Grewal, University of Westminster (Visiting Lecturer) Dr Suhraiya Jivraj, University of Kent (Senior Lecturer in Law , Deputy Director of Education (Decolonise the Curriculum), and Co-Director of Centre for Sexuality, Race and Gender Justice) Dr Alex Dymock, Goldsmiths University (Lecturer in Law) Professor Dibyesh Anand, University of Westminster (Head of Politics and International Relations), (Discussant) https://www.westminster.ac.uk/about-us/visit-us/cavendish All Welcome Space is limited registration essential Tags Tags United Kingdom Events City of Westminster Events Things to do in London London Seminars London Other Seminars Date and Time Thu, 24 October 2019 18:30 – 21:00 BST Add to Calendar Location University of Westminster 115 New Cavendish Street Cavendish Building, The Pavilion London W1W 6UW United Kingdom View Map View Map Map and Directions View Map Relaunch of the Centre for Law, Gender, Race and Sexuality at University of Westminster 115 New Cavendish Street Cavendish Building, The Pavilion, London, W1W 6UW, United Kingdom * By car * Walking * By public transport * By bike event ended Relaunch of the Centre for Law, Gender, Race and Sexuality View Details View Details Follow this organiser to stay informed on future events University of Westminster Event creator Events you might like: Book Launch: Fucking Law by Victoria Brooks tickets Free Thu, 13 Feb 18:30 Book Launch: Fucking Law by Victoria Brooks Resistance Gallery, London #Community #Party Share this event Working with Children in the Context of Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse | Goldsmiths University tickets £360 Thu, 20 Feb 09:30 Working with Children in the Context of Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse | Goldsmiths University Goldsmiths University, London #FamilyEducation #Course Share this event Adolescents as Victims and Perpetrators | Goldsmiths University tickets £360 Thu, 19 Mar 09:30 Adolescents as Victims and Perpetrators | Goldsmiths University Goldsmiths University, London #FamilyEducation #Course Share this event An Introduction to Sexual Health Thurrock tickets Free Fri, 24 Jan 10:00 An Introduction to Sexual Health Thurrock Thurrock Council, Grays #Health #Course Share this event Sexuality & Gender Awareness CPD Workshop tickets £80 Sun, 29 Mar 10:00 Sexuality & Gender Awareness CPD Workshop New Horizon Counselling Ltd, Croydon #Community #Course Share this event HIV, Stigma and Resistance tickets Free Wed, 19 Feb 18:00 HIV, Stigma and Resistance CLM.4.02, Clement House, LSE, London #Seminar Share this event Psychoanalysis and Social Violence tickets £48 - £65 Sat, 2 May 10:00 Psychoanalysis and Social Violence Freud Museum London, London #Health #Course Share this event Eugenia Charles's Gender Politics in Postcolonial Dominica tickets Free Wed, 22 Jan 17:30 Eugenia Charles's Gender Politics in Postcolonial Dominica UCL-Institute of the Americas, Lecture room 103, London Share this event Support My Loving- Meeting the CQC Relationships and Sexuality Guidance tickets £62.69 Tue, 14 Jan 10:00 Support My Loving- Meeting the CQC Relationships and Sexuality Guidance Choice Support, London #CharitiesCauses #Course Share this event Domestic and Sexual Violence as Experienced by Young People tickets Free Tue, 25 Feb 09:30 Domestic and Sexual Violence as Experienced by Young People First floor, room 1, Lambeth Town Hall, London #Government #Course Share this event Save This Event Log in or sign up for Eventbrite to save events you're interested in.
