Notification of Industrial Action February and March 2020

UCU

UCU (the University and College Union) has called upon its members to take industrial action relating to the 2019/20 national pay negotiations and the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS).

The action will take the form of 14 days of strike action and actions short of a strike.

The specific days of strike action notified by UCU are:

Week 1

• Thursday 20 February (Day 1)
• Friday 21 February (Day 2)

Week 2

• Monday 24 February (Day 3)
• Tuesday 25 February (Day 4)
• Wednesday 26 February (Day 5)

Week 3

• Monday 2 March (Day 6)
• Tuesday 3 March (Day 7)
• Wednesday 4 March (Day 8)
• Thursday 5 March (Day 9)

Week 4

• Monday 9 March (Day 10)
• Tuesday 10 March (Day 11)
• Wednesday 11 March (Day 12)
• Thursday 12 March (Day 13)
• Friday 13 March (Day 14)

Staff who are UCU members and who are considering participation in the strike action and action short of strike should note the University's Position on Industrial Action and the Withholding of Pay.

UCU members who choose to participate should complete the required Industrial Action Pro-Forma Feb/Mar 2020 - UCU and return it to humanresources@strath.ac.uk (Human Resources, Level 2, McCance Building), immediately upon their return to work and by Friday 20 March at the latest.

If any staff took part in strike action during the previous round of action in November and December 2019 and have not yet notified HR of their participation, please complete the required Industrial Action Pro-Forma Nov/Dec 2019.

EIS

In addition, the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) Union has called upon its members to take industrial action in relation to the 2019/20 national pay negotiations.

The EIS action will take the form of five days of strike action, with the following specific days having been notified by EIS:

Week 1

• Thursday 20 February (Day 1)

Week 2 

• Tuesday 25 February (Day 2)

Week 3

• Monday 2 March (Day 3)

Week 4

• Thursday 12 March (Day 4)
• Friday 13 March (Day 5)

Staff who are EIS members and who are considering participation in the strike action should note the University's Position on Industrial Action and the Withholding of Pay.

EIS members who choose to participate should complete the required Industrial Action Pro-Forma Feb/Mar 2020 - EIS and return it to humanresources@strath.ac.uk (Human Resources, Level 2, McCance Building) in line with the deadlines below:

• Participation in Week 1 and/or Week 2 should be notified to HR by Friday 28 February at the latest.
• Participation in Week 3 and/or Week 4 should be notified to HR by Friday 20 March at the latest.
