La vie multilingue du mot "fête"
This site contains information about a course of M1 titled "Projet Encadré". It is a course of NLP Masters tought in three universities, INALCO, Université Sorbonne Nouvelle and Université de Nanterre.
The objective of this project is to implement semi-automatic textual chain from data recovery to its presentation or display.
The project required for this course is to work on a theme in linguistics. The details are as follows:
1. Choose a word/term etc. in more than one language and find the occurence of this word in the languages in which we will be working. For example, festival in french/english and Tehwaar in urdu.
2. We will extract at least 50 urls in each language chosen where this word occurs and to work with it as required.
3. We then will be working with these urls by using different encodings, making of tables by uing a shell script etc.
The term that we will study for this subject will be celebration. Lets first define this word.

As the majority of people know about French and English, we will here give a brief description of the urdu language.
Urdu:
Urdu is a standardised register of the Hindustani language (language that was spoken in Hindustan (India) before its independence in 1947). It is historically associated with the muslims of the region of Hindustan (present India) (Calvet, 1998). It is the national language of Pakistan, and an official language of six Indian states. Apart from specialized vocabulary, Urdu is mutually intelligible with hindi, which is associated with the hindu community. The Urdu language received recognition and patronage under the British Raj when the British replaced the Persian and local official languages of North Indian states with the Urdu and English language in 1837. The word Urdu is derived from the Turkish word ordu (army) that has given English horde. The words that Urdu has borrowed from Turkish and Arabic have been borrowed through Farsi and hence are a Persianized version of the original word (Wikidpedia, 14/10/2014).
